Sensory Sensitive Film for Families affected by Autism and other disabilities at the RAVE in PSL.

Our family at Rave would like to give your family this special opportunity to enjoy their favorite films in a safe and accepting environment. The auditoriums dedicated to the film have their lights up, the sound turned down and audience members are invited to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing!

Below is a compiled list of items from staff, therapist, and parents that The Hope Center feels will be beneficial to the educational environment and outcome of the students.

The funds that will be allotted to this wish list will come directly from donations and/or fundraising. Based on an assessment of the school’s budget and needs, the Executive Director will purchase the items that cannot be donated.

Due to a high need in our community to open doors for even more young

children with Autism, donations and fundraising efforts are needed for a larger facility.

*Four digital cameras with SD cards for creating visual supports in the classrooms

*Four Nintendo DSs to use as positive reinforcement for appropriate behaviors in the classrooms

*One camcorder that will be used for student observations, staff trainings, and teaching behavioral strategies to students

*10 IPADS to be used as educational technology in the classrooms

*Portable DVD and CD players to be used in the classrooms as reinforcers and therapy tools

*Approximately $2,000: for tables and chairs used for parent trainings, community outreach, etc.

*Approximately $17,000: for an additional full time staff to rotate through the classrooms when staff is absent and to help with maintaining our daily low staff to student ratios.

*Approximately $20,000: for a school vehicle that in needed to complete CBI (Community Based Instruction) and transport the student and staff to fieldtrips.

The student’s practiced their trick or treating skills as they went door to door in the hallways while collecting assorted goodies. The parade was followed by crafts, pumpkin carving, and fall games. As you do your part at home, our faculty and staff members are doing their part every day to help give students an environment to play, create and explore. Earlier this year, The Hope Center for Autism was nominated for a Power a Bright Future grant from The Clorox Company in hopes of securing up to $50,000 in funding for additional technology and therapies for the school.

After a competitive national nomination period, now is the time for our school community to show its support. Help The Hope Center for Autism win up to $50,000 by casting votes starting Oct. 24, 2011 through Dec. 9, 2011. The Sons of Italy, Palm City Order #2855, hosted this wonderful charity event to raise money for a local school her in Martin County. The Hope Center for Autism is a non-profit public charter school that provides a education as well as therapies to children affected by autism at no cost to the families. We rely heavily on the support of the community and fundraisers like this to help with funding. The Italian Dinner Family Style was held on October 15^th in Palm Cove. The dinner was prepared by Chef John Carlino and was delicious. Everyone enjoyed the music provided by Dennis Fano, truly one of the best singer/entertainers. He did a fabulous job keeping everyone upbeat and happy throughout the evening. Dennis is the Financial Secretary for the lodge. People throughout the community came to support the school. Having fun at the Annual Columbus Day Charity Event, Chris and Veronica Pakuris, residents of Palm cove. Thank you to the Pakuris family for suggesting the Hope Center for Autism as this year’s charity for this event. Tatiana Cedler, Palm Cove resident, was the big winner of the night with the 50/50 raffle. Others in attendance included Hope Center Staff, Board Members and parents of some of the students. The Hope Center would like to thank Sons of Italy and all of the participants for their support in raising over $5,000 for the school.

Firefighters from the City of Stuart, Visit the Hope Center Students

The students at the Hope Center were all smiles on Wednesday, when the Firefighters from the City of Stuart, came out to teach the kids about fire safety.

Thank you to Dr. Bruce Hansbrough with Harmony Healing Arts Center for inviting the Hope Center for Autism to be a part of the Community Wellness Day Event that was held on September 24^th. We appreciate all of the support we have received over the past month from the community. The Firefighters came to visit the school this past week as the students learned about community helpers. Thank you to the City of Stuart Fire Rescue Team for taking the time to let the kids see the fire truck and learn about fire fighters.

This week has been very exciting. All the classes had a performance and end of the year celebration. We are so proud of all of the students for working so hard on their class performance. Everyone did a Fantastic job.

The AngelFish Class had their Graduation. Way to go AngelFish!!!!

This Saturday, June 11th was CAMP AMAZIN' hosted by the METS!

Many of our Hope Center Students participated in this outreach program. This is the 2nd Annual Camp Amazin' event that the Mets hosted here at the Stadium.

The Mets Players were unbelievable. They were very patient with the children and the kids really had a good time.

Thank you to all the Players, Volunteers and Staff that help put this wonderful event together.

Free teen and family event. The 6th Annual Summer Slam Jam will be held on June 4th at Stuart Beach from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The goal of Summer Slam, funded by the Children’s Services Council, is to provide a healthy recreational event for teenagers in the summer months. The event includes live musical entertainment by local bands, a DJ, food and craft vendors, interactive games with prizes, and much more. In past years, the parks department has hosted close to 3,000 people for Summer Slam Jam and expects a large turnout this year.

Announcing

The Hope Center for Autism and related disabilities has OPEN ENROLLMENT for 2011-2012 school year. There are currently limited openings with a lottery, for new students being, announced June 1^st. The Hope Center for Autism is a Florida Public Charter School for children in grades pre kindergarten through grade two. There are several eligibility requirements that must be met in order to be considered for enrollment.
The Hope Center will accept applications from May 2^nd – May 31^st. We will accept applications from December 1st - December 15th (if slots are available), for enrollment in the Spring Semester. If there is an opening between these enrollment periods, The Hope Center may extend the enrollment period.

*Walk Now for Autism-"TEAM HOPE" will have a booth at the walk. We will be wearing blue for our team color. If you do not have blue just come in your Hope Center gear. Registration begins at 8am and Walk at 10am at Traditions in Port Saint Lucie.
*Shirt Orders- If you would like to order a Hope Center Polo Shirt, request an order form through your child's take home folder. The shirts are $15 and come in various colors. Please fill out the form specify for lady,man or child, color and size. Make check out to "The Hope Center for Autism". I will be placing an order in the next week. So if you would like a shirt for the Golf Tournament due date is Tuesday, April 6th. This will give the company ample time to get the shirts in and embroider all the orders.If your order is not in by April 6th, I cannot guarantee that it will be ready for the tournament. Thank you.

Yesterday was the fundraiser meeting. I would like to share with you some important information for the event, if you were unable to attend. Our next meeting is Tuesday, April 19th at 1pm. Please mark your calendars now and make arrangements to come. It will be the last meeting before the Golf Tournament on April 30th.

NEEDS
*Sponsorships- this is where we make a majority of our money. Please get out to local business's and hand out flyers to everyone you know. There are several options for sponsoring. From $500-$5,000 , on the flyer it breaks down each sponsorship.
*Golfers- Please work on getting golfers to participate in the event. We still have a couple of weeks left but our participation is low.
*Donations- If you need more flyers please let us know through your take home folder. Our blog and facebook page which can be found through our main website www.thehopecenterforautism.org , also contains all of the information. It can be printed out and shared to family and friends that are out of town.

Please carry flyers with you and put them wherever you go.
